We had a great time with Dry Ice! First we saw what happens when you drop dry ice into water (The gas bubbles up and escapes). Then we made a magic bubble using soapy water and a piece of cloth. we even got to stick our finger in the bubble! Next we drank some Bubbly magic potion drink (Hawaiian punch with dry ice). We saved the best for last! We went outside and saw what happens when you put dry ice in soapy water. We didn't get too many pictures this week...we were too busy having fun!
Last week we made a chemical reaction by mixing vinegar and baking soda. First we mixed baking soda and vinegar in a bottle and the gas that was released during the reaction blew up a balloon! Then we made mini volcanoes using droppers with vinegar and mountains of baking soda. Chemistry is awesome! We had so much fun mixing cornstarch and water to make oobleck. it IS a solid and a liquid at the same time! The first week we explored the 3 states of matter. We watched a bill nye video and played a guessing game. We guessed if different items (and yes, some were edible!) were solids, liquids, or gases. The best was at the end- root beer floats had all 3 states of matter! |
